| Funeral services for Kurtis Shawn Girty, age 36 will be held Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at 2:00 pm at the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Laura Williams-Choate will officiate, assisted by Jeff Pino. Burial will follow the funeral service in the Enid Cemetery, arrangements under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. Kurtis was born in Enid to Jerry D and Evalyn M Girty on August 20, 1973 and passed away Friday, February 26, 2010 at home, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by family and friends. He lived in Enid and graduated from Enid High School in 1993. He was employed at Hutch’s C-Store and had his own lawn business until his illness made it impossible to continue. He was a member of the Gem and Mineral Society of Enid, Stillwater, and Wichita, KS. He loved his family dearly. He had no children. He loved his nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Kurtis is survived by his companion, Ben Countess; mother, Evalyn M Girty; four brothers, Kenneth, and his wife Laura of Cherokee, Karl, Kelly, and Kristopher of Enid; two sisters, Linda and her husband Mike Jackson and Stacey Wadford and her fiancé Thomas Chattam; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry D Girty; grandparents, K.G. and Melva Braley, Clarence and Cathy Chew, and Walter and Viola Girty. Memorials may be made in Kurtis’ name to Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home or to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation – Cancer Division with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home as custodian of the funds.
