Mary Elizabeth Olbert Shrewsbury was born September 16, 1920 in Hillsdale to Fred
Lee Olbert and Ruth Moore Olbert and passed away January 14, 2010 in the
Greenbrier Nursing Home. She and her four sisters grew up on the family farm near
Hillsdale.

Mary started school a year early to keep her older sister company. She graduated
from Hillsdale School in 1937 and went on to attend nursing school at Saints Mary’s
in Enid. Mary met and married the love of her life, Eldon Shrewsbury, April 30, 1943.
While Eldon was in the service of his country, in World War II, Mary resided in
Wichita, KS where she worked as a telephone operator. Upon Eldon’s return from
the war they made their home on the Shrewsbury family farm near Nash. They lived
on the farm until retirement in 1989 when they moved to Enid. Two sons were born
to this union, James Lee Shrewsbury in 1948 and William Dean Shrewsbury in
1952.

Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She had a
deep and abiding faith in the Lord. It brought Mary joy to fix special meals and care
for her family.

She is survived by her husband Eldon, son Jim of Nash, son Bill and daughter-in-
law Patsy from Woodward and Doris Shrewsbury from Enid. Four grandchildren:
Cory Shrewsbury and wife Jodi, Becky Miller and husband Bobby, Katy Williams and
