Obituary for Donald William Estes

Service of Remembrance and Celebration of Life for Donald (Donnie) W. Estes, 77, of Enid will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Bobby Hall will officiate. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, September 2.

Don was born June 15, 1937 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Kenneth and Oneta (Bobbie) Estes and dies August 31, 2014 in Enid, OK. He joined his Heavenly family on August 31, 2014.

Don attended school in Seminole, El Reno, and Hominy, graduating high school in 1956. He attended college at Coffeyville Jr. College, playing basketball for Jack Hartman.

On August 22, 1958 Don was united in marriage with the love of his life, Mildred (Midge) M. Hughes. The Lord blessed this union of 55 years, with three wonderful daughters, Lisa Dawn, Stephanie Lynn, and Amy Leigh.

Don started his lifetime career in the oilfield with Dowell Oil in Blackwell, Okla., lasting 24 plus years. Don and his family established their home in Enid, Oklahoma after transferring with Dowell. He continued his oilfield career working for Brand X Perforator, Eastwood Rentals, and Permian Well Service where he was currently employed for 29 years upon his death. Don was awarded the honorary member award from the Enid Oilman’s Association for his outstanding efforts as an oilman.

Don’s greatest joy was watching his girls and grandchildren participate in sports along with golfing and fishing with friends and business associates.

Throughout his entire life Don’s love of all sports played an important role as a player, coach, fan and avid supporter of the game. His respect was earned by many with his passion, presence and support on the fields and in the stands of his local teams to the bleachers of the state playoffs.

Don is preceded in death by his father and mother, Kenneth and Bobbie Estes, and one brother, Ronnie Estes.

He is survived by his loving wife, Midge, of the home, three daughters, Lisa and husband Keith Lea, Stephanie and husband Dale Wildrix, and Amy and husband Keith Broyles, all of Enid.

He also leaves six grandchildren, Lindsey, Lacey, Heather, Tyler, Dalton and Paige. Six great-grandchildren, Ashlan, Tayler, Paetyn, Jaxon, Leyton, and Baby Nunnally due in December; sister-in-law, niece and nephew, Bev, Shannon and KK, of Davis, California, and a host of friends.

He was an active member of Christ Community Church. Don’s greatest achievement was excepting his Lord and Savior in 2005, and his love for his wife, family and four legged friend, Bentley. He will be remembered and missed and continue to be loved by all that he touched.

Memorials can be made to Christ Community Church with Ladusau-Evans serving as custodians of the funds.
