Obituary for Inez Laurell Quigley (McIntosh)

Inez Laurell Quigley, 88, loving wife and mother, was born in Enid, OK on January 15, 1926 to Elster Albert McIntosh and Addie Alma (Stewart) McIntosh. She passed away unexpectedly in Plano, TX on September 11, 2014.
Laurell was raised by her aunt and uncle, Charlie and Vurna Smith in Pond Creek, OK. She was a high school cheerleader, saxophone player in the marching band, and drum majorette. She sold war bonds during the early years of WW II on stage at the local theater, dressed in an Uncle Sam costume.
After moving to Enid, she attended secretarial school, worked for OG&E, and later for Dr. Paul Rempel. On February 9, 1946, she married Bill D. Quigley, an Army Air Force cadet stationed at Vance AFB in Enid, whom she had met at a local USO dance. They lived and worked in Enid, OK for the entire 65 years of their marriage. Bill died November 22, 2011, and Laurell moved to a Plano, TX assisted living facility near her daughter’s home.
Bill and Laurell founded and operated Plastics Unlimited for 30 years before retiring in 1994. Laurell was the “face behind the counter”, while Bill managed the business and created the Plexiglass products the company was known for.
The Quigley’s were founding members of Willow Road Christian Church, where Laurell taught Vacation Bible School. They later joined First United Methodist Church where they were loyal members of the Sanctuary Choir and Sooner Sunday School class.
Laurell was active in Chi Beta women’s club, was a voter registrar, a member of Enid Ambassadors, and a regular volunteer at Integris Bass Baptist Hospital. She enjoyed golf, water skiing, snow skiing, vacation cruises, playing bridge and pitch. Laurell and Bill both loved music and dancing, belonging for many years to the Enid Big Band Dance Club.
Laurell is survived by her daughter, Tammy Trummer; son, Scott Quigley and his wife Kathy; grandson Ian Quigley and his wife QingQing; granddaughter Kristine McNaughton and her husband Robbie; two great-grandchildren, Keeli and Nicolas McNaughton; nieces Dixie Wachholtz and Karen Denison; and nephew Jim Howard.
The family requests that memorial donations be designated to the Alzheimer Association or to Enid First United Methodist Church - Sanctuary Choir. Laurell’s Memorial Service will be held Monday, 9/22/14 at 11 a.m. at Enid First United Methodist Church, 401 W. Randolph under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home, with interment at Memorial Park Cemetery in Enid.
