Obituary for Kenneth G. Fischaber

A celebration of life and remembrance for Kenneth Fischaber, age 95, of Enid, is 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 12, 2015, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, with Reverend Scott Whittenburg officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Kenneth passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2015, in Enid. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Kenneth was born in Enid to Ludwig Fischaber and Pauline (Hoeltzel) Fischaber January 22, 1919. He lived all of his life in the Enid area and attended Enid Public Schools and Enid Business College. He purchased his first farm in 1937 and raised wheat and cattle, and also was involved in the construction of Vance Air Force Base. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, and became a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in 1947, where he served in many different capacities. He was also involved in Imo Co-op and held several offices there.

He married Berniece Nobis January 12, 1947, in Fairmont, and they celebrated 48 years of marriage prior to her passing in 1995. He married Gladys Brune in 1996. She passed away in January 2007.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Berniece Fischaber, wife Gladys Fischaber, son Paul Fischaber, and granddaughter, Danielle Fischaber.

He is survived by three children, son Kenneth L. Fischaber and wife Cindy, of Enid; daughter, Ruth Barnes and husband Ron, of Norman; daughter-in-law, Mary Fischaber, of Enid; son David Fischaber and wife Jill, of Springdale, Arkansas; seven grandchildren, Ronald Barnes, Jr., and wife Susan, of Norman; Curtis Fischaber and wife Jill, of Longmont, CO; Tom Fischaber and wife Beth, of Boulder, CO; Susan (Barnes) Taylor and husband Justin, of Newcastle, OK; Scott Fischaber and wife Kathryn, of Bangor, Northern Ireland; Peter Fischaber, of Oklahoma City; Phillip Fischaber, of Enid; and nine great-grandchildren. He also leaves four step-children and their families.

Memorials may be made to The Lutheran Hour or St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with Ladusau-Evans serving as custodian of the funds.
