Obituary for Lowell J. Kroeker

Lowell J. Kroeker
Lowell was born December 12, 1945, in Aurora, Nebraska to John and Tena Kliewer Kroeker and passed away Monday, January 19, 2015, in the Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City. He attended and graduated from Enid High School in 1964. He attended Phillips University in Enid and received his Bachelors of Science in Education and received his Master’s Degree in Education and Administrator’s Certification from Northwestern State University in Alva. Lowell served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War from 1966 to 1972. Lowell married his soulmate Linda Smith on August 16, 1968, in Enid, OK.

Lowell started his teaching career in 1976 at Eisenhower Elementary. In 1981, he became assistant principal/teacher at Chisholm Elementary and later became the principal. He was principal at Okeene Elementary from 1996 to 2003. After retirement, Lowell just couldn’t stay away from the kids, so he drove a school bus for Chisholm for years. He always stressed the importance of education to his children and grandchildren.

God always pulled at Lowell’s heart. His children are certain that he knew the Bible frontwards and backwards, and he loved sharing the word. He prayed every day, and never swayed from his belief that God is in charge!! Lowell was an active member of Central Christian Church where he served as deacon and Sunday school teacher, and he was active in the Youth program. Some of his best memories were from the many C.C.C. youth mission trips he and his family attended.

In his spare time, he and Linda spent as much time as possible with their children and grandchildren. He was proud of his children and had no problem in telling them every chance he got. He also thought the sun rose and shined in his seven grandchildren. They were the smartest, most talented, and of course the most beautiful compared to anyone else’s grandchildren. He had no problem telling people that when he attended their ball games, plays, Christmas programs, and Grandparent’s Day. He was so looking forward to Lauren and Terry having their baby in May, and he told Linda that he prayed for Lauren and that baby every day! He couldn’t wait to share the baby-sitting duties while Lauren and Terry were at work. He is described as always being by Linda’s side. They loved yard work, being with their family, looking at new houses, and of course watching The Thunder together.

They moved to Yukon in 2013. He is survived by his wife Linda of the home, children, Lisa Hamilton and husband Travis, Bradlee Kroeker and wife Krystal, and Lauren LaFon and husband Terry, 7 grandchildren, Hallee, Carson, Collin Kroeker, Ethan and Kaitlyn Lipsett, and Tylan and Kaston Hamilton and one baby boy LaFon due in May, a sister Mary Lou Wiens, and a niece Dianna Just. He was preceded in death by his parents, niece Dottie Hanson, nephew Barry Smith, mother and father-in-law Lee and Betty Smith, and two brothers-in-law Gary Just and Richard Wiens.

The family wishes to thank you for the outpouring of love that they have received during this most difficult time. We are all looking forward to being with him again one day. Until then, we know that he is looking down and watching with great pride.
Memorials may be made to Central Christian Church-Youth Program with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodians of the funds.
