Obituary for Jane Hubbart (Lamunyon)

Freda ‘Jane’ Lamunyon Hubbart, 80, joined her heavenly Father January 29, 2015, with family at the bedside.
Jane was born to Rex and Elna Lamunyon November 20, 1934, west of Enid. She was baptized and later confirmed in the faith at Trinity Lutheran Church and remained a member until transferring to Redeemer Lutheran Church, Enid.
Jane attended Vernon Grade School through the fourth grade, followed by Valley View Grade School, graduating Waukomis High School in 1952 as Valedictorian. After completing the Enid Business College secretarial course in 1953 she was employed by Conoco Oil Co. in Ponca City returning to Enid in 1955 to work at Champlin Refining Co. and then a Financial Corp. Shortly after Jane moved back to Enid, she prayed to God to bring her a good husband, who also would be a good father to their children. One day when walking in to work, she saw a man at the news stand buying a cup of coffee. She said that she knew the moment she saw him that he was the one. Jane would see him often, since they worked in the same building, but it was almost a year before he asked her out. A little over a month after that first date, they were engaged.
On November 24, 1956, Jane married Duaine Hubbart and the couple made their home in Enid. They enjoyed summer vacations at Beaver Lake with their children. Every fall Jane and Duaine went camping / hunting in Colorado and the grandparents stayed with the children. Jane enjoyed sewing clothes for the kids, gardening, canning, and raising her children in the Christian faith. She worked for the City Directory, secretary for Bethany United Methodist Church, was involved with Meals on Wheels and a member of the Mary Martha Society. Jane was the ultimate caregiver, not only for her children and husband, but also fostered 3 children and helped with ailing family members and friends when needed.
After her husbands’ retirement from the postal service in 1988, Jane and Duaine spent more time at Beaver Lake enjoying the Lost Bridge Village activities and volunteering at the Whitney Mountain Chapel. Jane enjoyed boating, taking walks in the hills, swimming, and fishing with the grandkids. She frequently went night fishing with her son, Hal. They were able to travel the U.S. in their motor home making new friends and being involved the community activities. She became quite the crafter. They frequently returned to Enid to enjoy the grandchildren who will always remember her cherished banana bread, pies, fried chicken and her ‘special roast’ (tongue). She enjoyed all outdoor activities, and the wildlife. She loved to feed the birds and squirrels at Arkansas. Gardening continued to be a passion and all of her children and a few grandchildren will remember the endless sacks of green beans to be snapped. Every grandchild has a special quilt and sock monkey to call their own made with Grandma’s loving hands.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Emery and Baby David. She is survived by her Husband, Duaine, twin sister June Brainard Calloway of Enid, sister Leslie Mae Simmons of Colorado, her Children Cindy Koehn (Randy), Myrna Steinke (Mike) of Enid; Hal Hubbart (Teri Luckett), Watonga; Rex Hubbart, Bison; and exchange student Katri Iho Pekka, Finland. Eleven Grandchildren, their spouses and eight Great-Grandchildren.
