A celebration of life for Margaret “Maggie” Farrell, age 86 years, of Enid is 11:30 a.m., Saturday, March 21, 2015 at the First Baptist Church, Enid, Ok. Pastor Craig Shriner will officiate. Burial will follow in Forrest Lawn Cemetery, Greensboro, North Carolina, under the direction of Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home, Greensboro, North Carolina. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. Maggie passed away Friday, March 13, 2015 in Enid.

Maggie was born June 15, 1928, in Greensboro, NC to Jesse Church and Annie (Burchette) Church. She married Jack H. Farrell, Jr., on January 4, 1945. Maggie lived her entire life in Greensboro, until 2002 when she came to Enid to live with her daughter Emily and her husband, Jon Hulsey. She worked as a secretary for Burlington Industries for 44 years in Greensboro, North Carolina until her retirement to care for her mother. Maggie took a leap of faith when she moved to Enid in 2002 to start a new life at the age of 74. She left behind numerous friends with whom she kept in touch until she passed away. Maggie was immediately embraced by the Enid community, never meeting a stranger. Maggie’s greatest surprise coming to Enid was becoming the “Queen” of the DaVinci’s Thursday night bible study. “Mama Maggie” affectionately referred to her kids as ‘sugar’. She impressed upon her kids to be “happy Christians” and to live a life full of joy and with no regrets. Maggie enjoyed her Sunday schools at First Baptist Church, in Greensboro and Enid. She enjoyed going to lunch with friends and for 13 years worked as an RSVP Volunteer with the Enid Police Department. She was awarded the RSVP Volunteer of The Year. Maggie had the greatest respect for and held the Enid Police Department in the highest esteem. She considered each of them to be part of her extended family.

Maggie is survived by her daughter Emily Hulsey and husband Jon, of Enid; step-granddaughter, Laura Beth Baugh of Round Rock, Texas; three sisters-in-law, Helen Guthrie of Winston Salem, North Carolina , Nancy Davis, of Orlando, Florida and Cynthia Farrell, of Greensboro, North Carolina, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. She leaves behind her “three-pound terror” Mitzie, in the care of her loving daughter, Emily.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack H. Farrell Jr., her parents, and sister, Edith Price.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church in Enid and First Baptist Church, Greensboro, North Carolina with Ladusau-Evans serving as custodian of the funds.
