Obituary for Ruth E. Stabe (Rork)

Ruth E.  Stabe (Rork)
A Celebration of Life and Remembrance for Ruth E. Stabe, age 101 years, of Lahoma, is 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 24, 2015 at Zion Lutheran Church in Lahoma, with Pastor Kenneth Wade officiating. Burial will follow in Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Thursday, April 23, 2015 at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Ruth passed away Saturday, April 18, 2015 in Enid.

Ruth was born March 31, 1914 in Carrier, Okla. to Bert Rork and Effie (Loper) Rork. She grew up on a farm near Carrier, with eleven brothers and sisters, and graduated from Carrier High School in 1932. She met her future husband, Herman Stabe, at a ballgame. They were married in April of 1935, and in 1985, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They raised three daughters, Betty, Patsy, and Shirley on the family farm near Lahoma. She helped with the farming and the dairy operation, and enjoyed watching the girls show their dairy cattle with the Lahoma 4-H Club, as well as watching them play basketball and softball. Ruth had a great love for sports. She enjoyed all sports, especially OU and OSU, football, basketball and baseball. She loved Thunder Basketball and Cardinal Baseball. Ruth was very active in the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. She enjoyed helping with luncheons for church and community activities. She loved quilting and made many quilts for her family as well as missions overseas. She helped with the county election board counting ballots.

She is survived by three daughters, Betty Derdeyn and husband Clark, of Walla Walla, Washington; Patsy Holsch and husband Ralph, of Washington, Kansas; Shirley Lodes of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Scott Derdeyn of Lahoma, Oklahoma; Sheila Derdeyn, of Fairfax, Virginia; Kevin Holsch and wife Becca, of Washington, Kansas; Karl Holsch and wife Stacie, of Prairie Village, Kansas; Lance Lodes and wife Laura, of Oklahoma City; Lori Lodes and husband Matt Browner-Hamlin, of Washington, DC; three great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband Herman J. Stabe, five brothers, six sisters, and son -in-law, Charles Lodes.

Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, Lahoma, OK or Hospice Circle of Love with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodians of the funds.
