Obituary for John Louis Quiggle

A Celebration of Life and Remembrance service for John L. Quiggle, age 78, of Enid, will be held at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 20, 2015 with Pastor Gary Miller to officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, with full Military Honors provided by The United States Air Force. John entered into peaceful rest and went with the Lord on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at his home in the loving care of Hospice Circle of Love.

John L. Quiggle was born to Kellard H. & Viola A. (Vandevender) Quiggle on October 19, 1936 in Colony, Kansas. The couple moved the family to Enid in 1938. John graduated Enid High school and worked for Oklahoma Floral in his teenage years prior to joining the United States Air Force. During his time in the military, he completed a tour of duty in Vietnam. He also had the opportunity to serve in Thailand, the Philippines, Guam and Puerto Rico. John proudly served his country for 22 years before retiring as a Technical Sergeant in 1976 from Nellis Air Force Base, Las Vegas NV. After he moved back to Enid, John worked for Owens Supply Company for several years as a Warehouse Manager. He then moved on to work for Scheffee’s Drug Store for a few years as a Warehouse Manager. He then went to work for Northrup Grumman in 1990 where he worked in the 71st Supply Squadron until he retired in 2001.

He is preceded in death by Kellard H. Quiggle (Father), Viola A. Quiggle (mother), Velda M. Quiggle (wife), James L. Quiggle (son), Cleda V. Mills (sister), and Jack S. Quiggle (brother).

He is survived by Helen Thornell, beloved wife, of the home, Teresa Rake, beloved daughter, of Arlington Virginia, Jeffrey Rake, son in- law of Arlington Virginia, and Sister in- law Norma “Jean” Quiggle, of Enid, OK. Also surviving him are three step-children and their spouses; Brian & Kaye Austin, of Austin TX; Tim & Tamara Thornell, of Hobbs, NM; Shelly & Billy Benton of Oakland, CA; ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild, all of whom were extremely special to him.

In lieu of flowers the family has kindly requested you make a donation in John’s memory to either of these beloved charities, The PenFed Foundation, Arlington, VA or Hospice Circle of Love, Enid, OK, with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
