Obituary for Peggy Jean Scheffe (Cleveland)

Peggy Jean Scheffe (Cleveland)
Peggy Jean Cleveland Burk Scheffe ended her journey on this earth on Wednesday the 8th of July in Enid Oklahoma.

Born December 11, 1924 in Yale, Oklahoma to F.S. (Fate) and Grace Parmley Cleveland, she was the seventh child in a family of eight children.

Peggy was a long time resident of Enid and a local businesswoman. In 1966, she and life-long friend, Dottie Shockley, opened the Gift Box in Enid. She was also a founding member of Christ United Methodist Church and an active member in the PEO chapters of Enid and Edmond, Oklahoma, the Enid Junior Welfare League, the Junior League of Odessa, Texas and a charter member of the Chi Beta Study Club in 1949.

Peggy is survived by daughter Peggy Sue Rackley, granddaughters Laura Perry and Ashley Scroggins, great-granddaughter Bailey Box and brother Gerald Cleveland. Peggy is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Preceding Peggy in death were husband Wayne Burk, husband Walter Scheffe, and son Eddie Burk, along with five brothers and one sister.

The family would like to especially thank those who have provided care for Peggy in recent months.

A private family burial and prayer service will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery in the Garden of the Good Shepherd at Peggy’s request.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation Cancer Division with Ladusau-Evans serving as custodian of the funds.
