A Celebration of Life and Remembrance for Donnie “Don” Young, age 73 years, of Enid, is 10:00 am, Friday, September 11, 2015 at Cedar Ridge Wesleyan Church with Pastor Ron Olson officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. Don passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at his home in Enid in the presence of his loving family.

Don was born February 24, 1942 in Blackwell, Oklahoma to Loyd Young and Viola (Dillard) Young. At the age of two, Don’s father passed away and his mother moved him and his brother and sister to California. He graduated from Redondo Beach High School in 1959, and, at the age of 21, returned to Cleo Springs, Oklahoma to be close to his family. He married the love of his life, Twila Long August 27, 1965, and they were blessed with two children, Lisa and Tim. They celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary just this August. He worked for Hackney Iron and Steel for 37 years, retiring in 2007. Don also served his country for 16 years in the Army National Guard earning the rank of Staff Sergeant before being honorably discharged in 1985. Don loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He also was a talented carpenter and made furniture out of barn wood.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Marvin Young, nephew, Mike Young and step-father Marvin Holdeman.

He is survived by his wife Twila, of the home in Enid; children, Lisa McLemore and husband Patrick, of Enid; son Tim Young and wife Cheryl, of Edmond, OK; four grandchildren, Madyson Jennerjohn, of Enid; Arielle McLemore, of Enid; Brae McLemore, of Oklahoma City, OK; and Tanner Myatt, of Enid. He also leaves three sisters, Georgia McGlone of Newton, KS; Marlene Waddell and husband Rocky, of Enid; and Billie Karen Grieshober and husband Kurt, of Enid, as well as several nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Our family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of Hospice Circle of Love for their care and compassion while caring for him these past weeks. We wish to thank our family and friends for the love and support during this difficult journey. We appreciate this more than words can say.
