Obituary for James Dwight Webster

James Dwight Webster
A Celebration of Life service for James D. Webster, 84 of Stillwater formerly of Lamont will be 2:00 pm Tuesday at the Ladusau-Evans Chapel with Pastor Jaared Scott officiating. Private burial will be in the Waukomis Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
James Dwight Webster was born Oct 24, 1931, in Blackwell, OK, the first of four sons born to Ralph and Grace (Reid) Webster.
At that time, the family lived on a farm southwest of Deer Creek, OK. When James was six, the family moved to a farm outside of Elbing, KS, where they lived until 1943. That summer, the family moved to a farm 3 miles northeast of Lamont, OK. James attended Lamont public schools, where he graduated in 1949. Following graduation, James continued living near Lamont where he began a farming and long-haul trucking business.
James married Johnnie Earnheart of Caldwell, KS, in 1966. They lived on the farm near Lamont, where they farmed and raised livestock.
In the summer of 1974, James sold his farm equipment and purchased a Peterbilt tractor-trailor to return to his lifelong love of truck driving. Whether it was hauling wheat from the local elevators to the Port of Catoosa, or going to Nebraska for a month of corn harvest, he was a true road warrior.
James took a lot of pride in his hobby of restoring antique vehicles. His first project was to restore his dad's 1949 Chevy pickup, which he did in 1984. He went on to restore several other vehicles, including a John Deere tractor.
With his health declining, he retired from trucking and sold his last truck in 1993.
He continued to work on restoring and repairing vehicles until 2014, when he and Johnnie moved to Stillwater.
Finally, his body wore out, and he went peacefully to meet his Lord on Nov. 7, 2015.
James was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church.
He was predeceased by his parents, Ralph and Grace, and his brother Keith.
James is survived by his wife, Johnnie, stepdaughter Tommi Leach and husband Delbo, stepson Bill Earnheart and wife Melinda, brothers Kenneth and wife Nancy, and Glenn and wife Sybil, sister-in-law Sandy Webster, 6 grandchildren (Lynsey Leach, Sid Earnheart and wife Jennifer, Andra Beyer and husband Dustin, Ross Earnheart and wife Christel, Kyle Earnheart, Jaron Leach and wife Jordi), 6 great-grandchildren (Hannah Beyer, Aiden Beyer, Kaylee Beyer, Adeline Earnheart, Aydri Beyer, Landon Earnheart), and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends, all of whom will miss him greatly.
Memorials may be made to Lamont Methodist Church with Ladusau-Evans serving as custodian of the funds.
