Obituary for Ethel Grace Miiller (Johnston)

A Service to The Witness of The Resurrection of Jesus Christ for Ethel Grace Miiller, 93, of Enid, will be Monday, February, 8, 2016, 9:30 AM at The First Presbyterian Church with The Rev. Andrew Philip Long officiating. The interment will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery, Tulsa, OK. The family will receive friends at the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home from 3 to 4 PM on Sunday. Mrs. Miiller passed away February 1, 2016 surrounded by her loved ones and friends.

Ethel was born February 8, 1922 in Nowata, OK the daughter of Henry and Ola Smith Johnston. Her family moved to Tahlequah where she was a graduate of Bagley High School. After graduation she moved to Tulsa, OK to pursue a career in nursing. She was united in marriage to Glenn Summey in May 30, 1942 in Tulsa, OK and he preceded her in death in 1988. Ethel then married Harold Miiller February 16, 1993 in Enid, OK and he preceded her in death in 2012. She was employed as office manager for Dr. E.K. Recknagel and then later worked as a secretary for Bill Sturdvan Plumbing. Ethel was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Enid, a women of faith touching many hearts and lives through numerous groups she was active in. Her memberships include The Home Demonstration Club in the 50’s, The Enid Garden Club for over 50 years, submitting flower arrangements to the Garfield County Fair many time winning blue ribbons for her entry’s, The Eastern Star, The Ladies of the Moose, Good Sam’s Camping Club and The Women’s Sorority. She and Mr. Miiller enjoyed traveling in their motorhome with Ethel’s daughter and visiting family. She had a gift of never meeting a stranger and leaves many friends and loved ones. She was always there with a covered dish, cake or pie when there was a death or illness in the family.

Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn West and her husband Larry of Longview, TX, Glenda Dart and her husband Jerry of Wichita, KN, two granddaughters, Annette Hawthorne and her husband R.J. and Lisa Fields, a grandson, David McPhail and his wife Willa and seven great-grandchildren, Morgan Miles and her husband James, Jarad Hawthorne , Jackson McPhail, Hailey Lindberg and her husband Andrew, Nathan Williams, Allison Fields and Adam Fields, two great great-grandchildren, McKenzie Miles and Elliott Lindburg. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Kathryne (Katie) McPhail one brother, Leno Johnson and one sister, Ora B Shankles, a niece, Etha Delay and a son-in-law, John McPhail.

The family of Ethel Miiller would like to thank Kathy her aide and friend, along with the staff of Integres Home Health, the staff at Brookdale Assisted Living and Tonya and staff of Hospice Circle of Love.
