Obituary for David D. Jeter (Jeter)

David D.  Jeter (Jeter)
David D. Jeter, age 94, of Enid went to his heavenly home on Monday, November 27, 2017. A Celebration of Life will be at 10:00 am Thursday, November 30, 2017 at the Ladusau-Evans Chapel with Rev. Abraham Wright officiating. Burial will follow in the Enid Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
David was born December 14, 1922 in Mt. Crest, Arkansas to John E. and Callie A. Jeter. He graduated high school from SBI in Waxahachie, Texas. In 1948 he joined the Army and upon discharge in June 1950 he joined Hq Btry, 189 FA BN Oklahoma National Guard 45th Division, which was mobilized September 1950. He served in Japan and then Korea from November 1951 to May 1952. He earned many medals including the Korean Service Medal with two battle stars, Armed Force Reserve Ribbon with two clasps. He remained in the National Guard retiring after 20 years as First Sergeant of Hq Btry, 45 Division Artillery.
David married Emily Joan Milacek in 1954. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 26 years. Emily passed away in 1979. David married Lavana Martin in 1982. They resided in Lost Bridge Village, Beaver Lake, Arkansas for many years where David pursued his hobbies of playing and writing music and fishing. He belonged to the N.W. Arkansas Songwriters’ Association and N.W. Arkansas Fiddlers’ Association. He was an avid sportsman and fished Beaver Lake with a passion for 20 years. David was also a lifetime member of the VFW. He attended Chisholm Trail Cowboy Church and held membership at Emmanuel Baptist Church.
David is survived by his wife, Lavana, four daughters, Jeanne Wildrix and husband Jeff, Joanne Seidl and husband David, Kathy Pearson and husband Dale, Mary Jantz and husband Chris, and stepsons Greg Boattenhamer and wife Holly, and Kirk and Mike Boattenhamer. Grandchildren include Mandy Tatro, Heather Miles, Joel Jantz, Adam Jantz, Aimee Poe, Alycia Severson, Barbie Wildrix, Beau Wildrix, Kelsey and Haley Boattenhamer; 12 great grandchildren, and brother Dwight Jeter.
David was preceded in death by his siblings, Ernestine, Louise, Hugh, Horace, and John Clark.
Memorials may be made to Gideon’s International with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodians of the funds.
