Obituary for Robert R Zimbelman

A memorial service and celebration of life for Robert R. Zimbelman, age 82, of Enid, will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 5, 2015 at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Kelly Russell will officiate. Robert, a United States Navy Veteran, will be buried at sea at a later date. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. Robert passed away Friday, January 2, 2015 at his home in Enid surrounded by his loving family.

He was born February 13, 1932 in Colome, South Dakota to parents Paul Zimbelman and Alice (Stoltenburg) Zimbelman. He grew up in South Dakota and following high school he entered the United States Navy. In February of 1956, he married the love of his life, Velma Kahler in Winner, South Dakota. They enjoyed 58 years of marriage. Together they had seven children. Robert was an outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren participate in various sporting events. He was very proud of them all.

Robert is survived by his wife Velma, of the home in Enid; son Dwight Zimbelman of Seminole, TX; son David Zimbelman of Gillette, WY; daughter Jackie Postier and husband Chuck, of Garber, OK; son Doyle Zimbelman of Tahlequah, OK; son Day Zimbelman and wife Jenifer, of Chandler, OK; daughter Julie West and husband Chad, of Enid, OK; and one brother, Don Zimbelman and wife Delores, of Rapid City, South Dakota. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren as well as several nieces, nephews and other family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Alice Zimbelman, an infant daughter, grandson Casey Charles Postier, and a brother Fritz Zimbelman.

Memorials may be made to Boys Town, with Ladusau-Evans serving as custodian of the funds.
