Barbara J. Newton (Drum)
A Celebration of Life for Barbara J. Newton, age 68, of Enid is 10:00 am, Friday, December 16, 2016 at Central Christian Church with Rev. Dr. Jarrett Banks officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm, Thursday, December 15, 2016. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Barbara was born November 24, 1948 in Enid to Louis B. Drum and Evelyn (Hall) Drum and passed away peacefully with family at her side on December 12, 2016.

Barbara attended Enid Public Schools graduating in 1966. She married the love of her life, Roy “Fig” Newton on November 4, 1966 and embarked on a life as an Air Force wife, traveling with Fig all over the world. Following Fig’s retirement from the Air Force in 1985, they moved to Enid where they made their home. Barbara received her Associate’s degree in Pharmacy Technology studies and then worked for Downs Pharmacy, Scheffe Prescription Shop, and Evans Drug before retiring in 2010. Following her retirement, Barbara continued devoting her life to her family, especially her children and grandchildren. Barbara was elated to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on November fourth of this year. She and Roy were long time members of Central Christian Church.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Evelyn Drum and a brother, Louis E. (Mike) Drum. She is survived by her husband Roy “Fig” Newton; daughter, Kelly Neath and husband Mark, of Shawnee, KS; son Chad Newton and wife Kelly, of Enid; daughter-in-law Kara Tarrant and husband Tracy, of Crescent, OK; five grandchildren, Tanner and Delaney Neath, Angeline and Giovanni Newton; Cole Tarrant; three god-daughters, Kristen Yehle, of Enid; Lindsay Dally and husband Ross and children, Caitlyn, Garrett, and Lauren of Fort Knox, KY; Robyn Irby and husband Tim and children, Camden, and Izabella of Guthrie; best friend and cousin Shirley Greening of Wichita, KS; as well as many other beloved relatives.

Barbara and family request that attire be “happy wear”, bold and bright like Barbara.

Memorials in Barbara’s name may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Central Christian Church No Child Left Behind fund with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
