Obituary for Francis Maudele Bischoff (Cheek)

Graveside services for Francis M. Bischoff, age 92, of Enid, are 2:00 pm, Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel. Reverend Kenneth Wade will officiate. Visitation with the family will be Friday from 6-7 pm at the funeral home. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Francis was born February 15, 1925, in Purcell, Oklahoma to William and Grace (Keeler) Cheek, and passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2017 in Oklahoma City.

Francis attended school at Liberty Hill School near Lindsay, Oklahoma. She was the oldest daughter of nine children, helping her mother care for her siblings. She went to work at Tinker Air Force Base during WWII where she met Fred Bischoff. They were married July 3, 1945. She and Fred moved to numerous states during his Air Force career, moving to Enid in 1964 when he retired. She then took a job at Highland Park Manor, and then worked at St. Mary’s Hospital before retiring. Francis was a long time member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, as well as the LWML. Francis enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, crocheting, and taking care of others.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Fred Bischoff, three sisters and a brother.

She is survived by four children, Larry Bischoff of Enid, OK; Dorothy Niles and husband Rick, of Edmond, OK; Paul Bischoff and wife Carol, of Oklahoma City, OK; Mary Vandever and husband Keith, of Porter, Oklahoma; five grandchildren; Keith Hovey, of Del City, OK; Kelly Olson and husband Matthew, of Piedmont, OK; Steffen Bischoff, of Oklahoma City, OK; Taylor Bischoff, of San Diego, CA, and Braden White of Oklahoma City, OK; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Fern Logan, of Georgia and Judy Orem, of San Antonio, Texas; two brothers, Donald Cheek, of Altus, Oklahoma and Wesley “Bud” Cheek, of Altus; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials in Francis’s name may be made to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, Alzheimer’s division with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
