Obituary for Manuel Macon Beckner (Beckner)

A Celebration of Life Service for Manuel Macon Beckner, 69 of Enid will be 2:00 pm Thursday at Ladusau-Evans Chapel with Jason Beckner, Lucas Beckner, and Rev. David Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in the Square Cedar Cemetery, Cleo Springs under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. The family will receive friends before the service from 1:00-1:45 pm.

Manuel went to his heavenly home on Saturday, January 26, 2019, surrounded by his family. Manuel was born on June 19, 1949 in Ringwood, OK to Fenton, Sr. and Dorothy Beckner.
At the age of 14, Manuel met Patricia Ann Hoskens. Two years later on March 21, 1966, they hopped on Manuel’s motorcycle and headed to Columbus, Kansas to be married. In 1967, they dedicated their lives to the Lord. Manuel worked in the oilfield and in the mid 1980’s designed the Mantronics Plunger Arrival Sensor, which his children still produce today.
Manuel was a minister and ordained bishop at the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn in Enid. His ministry included taking in homeless, caring for the down and out, visiting those in the nursing homes, jails, handing out hundreds of bibles and praying for and leading many to Christ, as well as welcoming many into their home for weekly Bible studies for over ten years.
The things Manuel valued the most were his family, serving others and most importantly his personal relationship with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ; values that he and Patricia instilled into their eight children.
Manuel and Patricia faithfully took on the challenge of raising their family in a home full of faith, love and laughter. They enjoyed traveling many places and taking their grandkids along on many adventures. Manuel had the opportunity to walk every one of his six daughters down the aisle to be married. Manuel’s strong faith was such an example that his two sons followed in his ministerial footsteps.

Manuel is survived by Patricia, his wife of 52 years and eight children: daughter Melvena and husband Brad Ewald of Fairview, daughter Angelia and husband Billy Rogers of Cleo Springs, daughter Natalie and husband Terry Rose of Enid, Ramona and husband Alan King of Woodward, Jason and wife Wendy of Enid, daughter Emily and husband Alan Fleshman of Robertsdale, AL, Lucas and wife Lacey of Drumright, and daughter Charity Wade of Enid. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Conner Ewald, Ryland and Amanda Ewald, Celeste Beckner, Hope Matthews, Faith and Matt Rathmann, Jacob and Alayna Engelking, Bo Rose, Lindsey King, James King, Landon Corr, Tegan Corr, Carter Beckner, Hannah Edwards, Ethan Edwards Ali Fleshman, Bethany Fleshman, Krista and Travis Gage, Franklin and Becky Muncey, and Manuel and McKenzie Beckner

Manuel was preceded in death by an infant son, Nolan, a sister, Camylia Morris, his parents Fenton and Dorothy, granddaughter Haylee Edwards and son-in-law J.L. Edwards.
In lieu of flowers, the family would request that you continue Manuel’s ministry by loving and serving others by living out Hebrews 13:1-3 - “Let brotherly love continue. Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body”.
