A celebration of life for Cari Thorpe, 57, of Hillsdale will be 12:00pm, Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Cedar Ridge Wesleyan Church with Rev Ron Olson officiating. A lunch will be held following the service at the church for family and friends. Cari Suzanne(Gipson) Thorpe was born June 11, 1961 in Guymon, OK to Eddie and Kay Gipson and passed away on January 30, 2019. Growing up she enjoyed spending time with her sisters, Debbie, Wendi, and Ami as well as her many friends. Cari was a daddy’s girl and loved working in the shop with her dad. She graduated from Vega High School in 1979. On August 27, 1979 she married her high school sweetheart and love of her life Glen Thorpe. Together they had three children Kristi, Bradley, and Kalie and her 10 grandbabies who were the light of her life. Cari was a devoted wife, mother, sister, abba, and friend. She enjoyed watching sports and was a huge OSU and Dallas Cowboys fan. Cari was a people person and made friends with everyone she met. She genuinely cared for everyone she met and was very honest with her words. Next to her grandbabies and family, her dogs were her passion. She loved working at Midway, because she got to talk to her many friends. She was a very compassionate person; she loved working as a nurse aid and with children. She will be remembered for her big smile, her sense of humor, and the way she loved others. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Glen Thorpe; Her three children, Kristi Lipsett and husband Kevin, Bradley Thorpe and wife Ronda, and Kalie Ulrich and husband Bradley. Her mother, Kay Gipson; Three sisters, Debbie Soule and husband Barry, Wendi Smith and husband Scott, Ami Junell and husband Alan. Her 10 grandbabies, Hannah, Hailey, Ethan, Kaitlyn, Heath, Ava, Dalton, Daniela, Callie, and Knightly. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by daddy, Eddie Gipson and many other much loved family members. Memorials may be made to Cedar Ridge Wesleyan Church. Condolences may be sent and services viewed at

My dear frien Cari, you will be missed! I can't believe you are gone. I have sweet memories from you and your family. We met in Texas, at Dyess Air Force Base and from the very begginning you welcomed us. I did not have any friends, we were new in the area as we were coming from Puerto Rico. Our kids played together and we had an amazing time with your family. You will always live in my heart. My condolences to your husband Glen and your kids Kristy, Brad and Keiley! God bless you all. Sincerely, Millie and Luis Garced

Glen and family, my deepest sympathies and condolences for your loss. Cari was a wonderful, person, classmate, and friend. Loved her and will miss her. It was so wonderful to reunite first thru, then on Facebook. Loved hearing from her and loved playing Words With Friends with her. She was a very worthy opponent. Will miss playing with her. We talked as we played just touching bases with each other. She was a very beautiful person, who is loved by so many who knew her. She will be missed greatly.

I moved next door to the Thorpe family at Dyess AFB in Abilene , Texas many years ago. Cari was one of those rare exceptional people you are fortunate enough to meet and call friend. I was heartbroken to hear of her passing and have many great memories of her, Glen, Kristi and Brad. They were like family to me when I lived in Texas and Nebraska, far away from my own family. I haven’t seen her in many years, but enjoyed reconnecting through Facebook. Just wanted to let others and her family know, how great her being in my life meant to me. I think of her often. She was exceptional at being a friend. It’s just who Cari was. And I have and will remember her always. Lori Crocker Johnson Costello
