Obituary for Opal Faye George (Irwin)

A Celebration of Life Service for Opal F. George age 91 of Enid will be 10:00 am Thursday at Ladusau-Evans Chapel with Rev. Steve Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
She was born September 13, 1928 on her Homestead in Harper Co. to James and Lucy (Young) Irwin and passed away February 23, 2020 at The Commons Nursing Center. She married William Edward George on June 2, 1952 in Woodward, OK and he passed away September 2, 2008. They moved to Enid in 1956. Opal was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church where she served in the nursery. She was a den mother for Cub Scouts and a member of Pioneer-Pleasant Vale Lions Club. She looked forward to going to McDonalds every morning to visit with her friends.
She is survived by her children; Geneva (Jim) Osburn, Gerald (Birdie) George, Eldon (Shirley) George and Gilbert (Debbie) George, five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and sister in law Melba Irwin.
Opal was preceded in death by her husband, sisters; Anna and Marie, brothers; Ralph, Robert, and Willis and her parents.
Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodians of the funds.
