Obituary for Bernard Mena

A Celebration of Life service for Bernard Mena age 87 of Enid will be 10:00 am Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Willow Road Christian Church with Rev. Carrell Still officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
Bernard was born August 20, 1932 in Enid to Jesus and Maria (Gonzales) Mena and passed away Thursday, February 27, 2020. He was raised in Enid where he attended and graduated from Enid High School in 1950. He entered the U. S. Navy April 24, 1951 and was honorably discharged April 12, 1955. Bernard married Nellie Drechsler on April 26, 1956 in Enid where they made their home and raised their two children, Tony and Dana. She passed away January 19, 2019. He attended Okmulgee Vo Tech. He worked 20 years at Sturgis Cleaners and 20 years at George E. Failings as a machinist and inspector retiring in 1998. He was a member of Willow Road Christian Church. Bernard enjoyed raising Golden Retrievers and tinkering in his shop.
He is survived by his children, Tony Mena, of Stillwater; Dana Johnson and husband Ron, of Ft. Smith, Arkansas; two grandchildren, Andrea Smith and husband Drew of St. Louis, MO and Ethan Johnson of Ft. Smith; a brother Joe Mena, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
Bernard was preceded in death by his parents, brother Wensor, two sisters, Lorensa Dougherty and Tillie Campbell.
Memorials may be made to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation- Heart Division or Willow Road Christian Church with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodians of the funds.
