Obituary for Winston Earl Guthrie

A Celebration of Life for Winston Earl Guthrie, 78, of Enid, OK, will be 10:00 am Monday, June 1, 2020 at Ladusau-Evans Chapel with Rev. Jim Edmison officiating. His wishes were to be cremated and services are under the direction of the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Winston was born June 1, 1941, in Enid, OK, and passed away on May 28, 2020. He attended Kremlin High School, Phillips University, and Oklahoma State University. On August 14, 1992, Winston married his best friend and the love of his life, Debera Jeanne, who preceded him in death in November of 2016. The two enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. Winston was two parts ornery and one part sweet. He enjoyed telling a good joke and always had a twinkle in his eye. He loved to create, whether it be furniture, rocking horses, home additions, or delicious meals to share with family and friends. He cared for animals throughout his life, especially his beloved dogs, horses, and most recently, the opossum who took up residence in his backyard and with whom he’d share leftovers.
Survivors include a daughter Paige Keithly and her husband Kent of Enid, OK, and their four children, Joe, Alice, Mary, and Harris Keithly; a daughter Kimberly Hedges and husband Jamie of Fairmont, OK, and three grandsons, Hesston Hedges and wife Kaelyn and their children Jett and Jaxon, Haden Hedges and wife Sadee and their children Hyde and Huxton, and Holden Hedges and Melanie Wills and their child Hank; two sisters, Carolyn and husband Les Long, Jeanne and husband Mac Branscum, and a brother Leroy and wife Saundra; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Burwell and Bessie (Myers) Guthrie and a brother Charles Guthrie.
The family wishes to thank Nurse Terri and all of the wonderful people at Hospice Circle of Love as well as the caring staff of Champion Home and Companion Care for taking such good care of him in his last days. Winston has also reminded us of the many visits, calls, cards and support from his great friends, and you know who you are.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to either Enid SPCA or Hospice Circle of Love with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home acting as a custodian.
