Obituary for Ebba M. Johnson (Jensen)

A Private Family Service Celebrating the Life of Ebba M. Johnson, 95, of Lahoma will be held Friday at Zion Lutheran Church Lahoma with Reverend Randy Foote officiating. Burial will follow at 11:00 am in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Lahoma under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Ebba was born July 1, 1925 in Chicago, IL to Marius and Mary Jensen and passed away Monday, August 17, 2020 in Brookdale Assisted Living. She attended grade school and high school in Chicago until the family moved to a farm south of Salina, OK in May 1939. She was active in Band and 4-H in high school in Salina graduating as valedictorian of the class of 1943. She attended OSU(A&M) at Stillwater graduating magna cum laude and Phi Kappa Phi in June 1947 with a BS degree in Vocational Home Economics Education. She was a member of Mortar Board, Omicron Nu, Kappa Delta Pi and Tau Beta Sigma. Ebba married William F. “Bill” Johnson on August 24, 1947 and they lived in the Vet Village at A&M Stillwater until Bill finished his college degree in Engineering. They moved to the farm NW of Lahoma in 1948, where she resided until March 2017 when she moved into Brookdale Assisted Living, until she passed away August 17, 2020. She was a partner with her husband in the farming-dairy business until her sons Rodney and Roger took over when Bill died in 1986. She was a life-long member of the Lutheran Church, a member of Zion Lutheran Church Lahoma from 1948 until her death. Ebba taught Sunday School and was a member of the Ladies Aid and LWML. She served as LWML Society President and secretary, the Enid Zone LWML president 1978-1980, the OK District LWML President from 1980-84. From 1984 to 2004 she served as the OK District Archivist-Historian and was a designated Archivist-Historian Emeritus until her death. Ebba and Bill enjoyed being active in The LLL (Lutheran Laymen’s League) especially the last 20 years as they traveled the country to LLL Conventions from California, Florida, Minnesota to Texas up to one month before Bill’s death. Ebba was a member of the Lahoma Economy FCE group. She was chosen Homemaker of the Year in 1992.
She is survived by her sons, Marcus and wife Joan, Roger and wife Charlene, Rodney and wife Marlene all of Lahoma, Phil and wife Harvel of Enid, daughter Karen Thomas, seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, sister in law Zita Jensen of Salina, OK and numerous other family members.
She was preceded in death by her husband William F. “Bill” Johnson, her brother Elmer and Alfred Jensen.
Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church or LWML with Ladusau-Evans serving as custodians of the funds.
