Obituary

The funeral service for Virgil (JR) Raymond Gose, Jr., 75, will be Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at 10:00 am at Zion Lutheran Church in Lahoma, Oklahoma. Pastor Randy Foote will officiate. Burial will be with full military honors at Zion Lutheran Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Virgil was born to Virgil Raymond Gose, Sr. and Mamie Ilene (Johnson) Gose, December 25,1945, in Enid, Oklahoma, and passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on January 8, 2021. Psalm chapter 116 verse 15 reminds us “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints”. Earlier in life, he accepted Christ’s love and forgiveness. This was evident in the words of his grandson, Mark Ryan Nelson, “Early this morning my grandpa was called to his heavenly home and stepped into the light of God’s loving presence. He was a man of faith who not only loved his family but loved his neighbors. While I am very sad to say goodbye, I know we will be together again one day. I can only imagine the amazing reunion he is having up inheaven right now. Love you, GPA!”.
Virgil grew up in Enid, Oklahoma, and the surrounding area. He attended Enid Public
Schools. Enlisting in the US Navy his senior year, he completed basic training during Christmas break. After completing his military service in Vietnam aboard the U.S.S. Seminole, a cargo attack ship, he returned to Enid. He then started a career with the city of Enid retiring in 2007 after 39 years. He continued to stay busy caring for personal properties, working part-time for Culligan of Enid, and helping his wife care for his mother-in-law, Ruby. He was a faithful member of Enid Bible Church for many years serving in various positions. He married Shirley Ann Toews in 1968. She preceded him in death. He married Marcia Dirks Knox on September
14, 2002. They made a home in Lahoma, Oklahoma where he became a member at Zion Lutheran Church serving in many positions most recently as an elder up until ill health. Together they loved to travel and enjoyed time with family and friends.
Preceding Virgil in death are his parents, Virgil and Mamie Gose, brother Mickey Gose, wife Shirley Gose, Shirley’s parents Ruben and Nora Toews, sister-in-law Janice Toews, mother-in-law Ruby Dirks, father-in-law Roland Dirks, brother-in-law Bill Dirks, brother-in-law Sonny Dirks, niece DeeDee Dirks and many other relatives.
Surviving are wife Marcia of the home, children Kristi (Mark) Nelson of Yukon, Kimberly (Alan) Hager of Norman, and Kurtis (Stacy) Knox of Tuttle, grandchildren Mark Ryan and Kaleb Nelson, Alayna, Kamden, and Keagan Hager, brothers Jim (Donna)Gose of Borger, TX, Ronnie (Terri) Gose of Enid, brother-in-law Francis (Debbi) Toews of Meno, brother-in-law Darrel Dirks of Casper, WY, sister-in-law Nancy Dirks of Omaha, NE, nephews Jimmie (Melissa) Gose, Wade (Becky) Dirks of Nashville, KS, nieces Kim (Lee) Middleton, Kerri Sigler, Lacy (Aaron) Hoggard, Sammy Toews, Kelly (Leo) Reyes, Jessy (Jeremy) Dershem, Alicia (Dave) Kotlarz, Laura (Vern) Cossitt,
