Obituary for Walter Eugene Adams

Walter Eugene Adams was born July 19, 1935, on his grandparents’ homestead near Woodward, OK, to Russell and Grace (Hunter) Adams. He passed away October 24, 2021, in Enid, OK.
Walter attended school in Sharon, OK, and graduated with the class of 1953 from Sharon High School. He began farming in partnership with his dad a few years later. Walter enjoyed a full life with family and friends. He loved meeting new people, traveling, and fishing. He continued to water and snow ski well after his 80th birthday. Family and friends will remember how much he loved hosting barn parties at the farm.
Governor George Nigh appointed Walter to the Oklahoma Wheat Commission in 1982 for a five-year term. This enabled him to become educated in international grain trading and provided an opportunity to travel to Europe, Africa, Israel, and Russia. He received awards for his innovative farming practices and was given the Honorary State FFA Degree in 1994.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Grace Adams, and sister Joyce Adams Curtis. He is survived by his daughters, Dana Stone and Terri Blakley; grandchildren Erin Stone Fong, Sean Stone, Katherine Blakley, Matthew Blakely, Sarah Blakley; and his sister Margaret Barker. Walter also has four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at the Sharon United Methodist Church in Sharon, OK; Friday, October 29 at 2:00 pm. As a health precaution, the family requests masks be worn.
