Obituary for James "Jim" Arwood

A Celebration of Life for James “Jim” Arwood, age 73, of Enid, will be 4 pm, Friday, January 21, 2022 at the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Edmison officiating. The United States Marines will provide military honors. Cremation and funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Jim was born on September 21, 1948 in Hutchinson, Kansas to Arnold and Katy (Stephens) Arwood, and passed away Monday, January 17, 2022 in Enid.
He graduated from Hutchison High School in 1967, and he then joined the United States Marines in 1969, serving his country during the Vietnam Conflict, where he was awarded the Purple Heart Medal, the Combat Action Ribbon and the Vietnam Cross of Gallentry. Upon being discharged from the military, he moved to Gardener, Kansas, where he served as the Fire Chief for the Gardener community for several years. Eventually he moved to Enid and began a new career driving trucks for Groendyke. He met the love of his life, Cindy King, on November 14, 1996, and they celebrated 25 years together before his passing. They blended their families together, and welcomed many, many grandchildren into their family over the years.
He is survived by his wife Cindy Arwood, of the home in Enid; daughter, Ryan Priest and husband Jason, of Enid; daughter, Ramey Holsten and husband Keith, of Enid; son, William Posey and wife Teri, of Kentucky; son, Christopher Arwood and wife Mickie, of Massachusetts; son, Gary Arwood and wife Tosha, of Enid; son, Shane Arwood, of Kansas; sister, Barbara Stoy, of Kansas; brother, Ace Arwood and wife Sunny, of Ames; thirteen grandchildren; Alexis, Mazzy, Natalie, Jensyn, Hayden, Darrian, Blake, Landyn, Ali Grace, Jalin, Bentley, AJ, and Jax; and numerous great-grandchildren and many other family and friends. He is also survived by his beloved dogs, Bentley, Hutch, and Murphy.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Katy Arwood; and sisters, Margaret and Beverly.
Memorial contributions in Jim’s name may be made to Hope Outreach and Enid SPCA with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
