Anita Sue Hamblin, beloved Mom and Grandma, left us on May 4th, 2025, at the age of 73.
Anita was born on May 25, 1951, in Dallas, TX to Earl Lee and Anita Jane (Pittman) Henderson. She was one of four girls and her mother's namesake.
Her childhood years were spent in various Texas and Oklahoma towns due to her father's career, eventually settling in Enid, OK and graduating from Enid High School in 1969. At Enid High, Anita met Douglas Hamblin and the two married in November 1969. Together they welcomed three children: James Andrew, Mark Christopher and Amy Elizabeth.
She trained and worked as a phlebotomist all of her adult years, training countless people and was well-known for "getting blood from a turnip". She eventually retired in her sixties and got to enjoy what she was put on Earth to do and that's to be a grandma. Her artistic and creative abilities could entertain a child for hours. Making doll clothes from Kleenex, racing cars on tables and creating fun in ordinary things. She loved and protected fiercely and was known for her tight hugs, open lap, and occasional sarcasm.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Carol Wells and grandson, Jayce Lowrey. She is survived by her children: James (Tonita), Mark (Stephanie) and Amy Lowrey (Jay) all of Enid and surrounding areas. A loving grandma or "Gooma" to 10 grandchildren, 4 bonus grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. A sister to Michele Hamblin and Linda Hersh, and an aunt, cousin and friend to countless others.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau Evans Funeral Home and Crematory.
The family wishes to thank Greenbrier Nursing Home and Hospice Circle of Love for their exceptional care.
A private family Celebration of Life will be held later this month as Anita requested no traditional funeral but rather "a big, old party".
If you wish to remember her, do so with a kind deed or word as kindness is everything.
Mom, we love you most.
