A Celebration of Life Service for Bobby Parr, age 76, of Nash, will be 10:00am, Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at the Bethel Hawley Baptist Church, with Pastor Gary Lillie officiating. Service and cremation arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home and Crematory.
Bobby (Bob) Jack Parr, 76, was born November 10, 1948 to Howard Parr and Juanita (Houghtelin) Parr. He was the first of four children born into that rowdy, loving, caring family. Bob got to go home and meet Jesus on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 in Enid, Oklahoma. Parkinson's Disease had taken its toll on his once strong body and mind.
Bob, also known as BJ, Coach Parr, and Mr. Parr, started school at the Amorita School, taking two classes at once to move him up a grade. When his father Howard began teaching at Hazelton, KS, Bob finished elementary school there. All of his high school years were spent at Burlington High School, excelling at academics, and participating in basketball and baseball, and making good friends. He earned his college degree in mathematics and teaching at then Northwestern State College where he played a bit of baseball, too. He taught and coached at Wakita High School, Chisholm High School, and Drummond High School. Later he worked for an oil company and then he spent the many years working for the US Postal Service in Enid.
He married Sherri Groves after graduation. From this union were born his daughter Abby, and son Eric. Bob married Connie Phillips on January 24, 1988. She brought with her another son, Clifford, for Bob to love and father. He deeply loved all his children. Bob and Connie's love for each other grew deeply and very tangibly. Connie spent Bob's last years caring for him in ways only a true love could accomplish.
Bob came to know his Lord and Savior as a young child at the First Baptist Church of Cherokee. He is a member of Bethel Hawley Baptist Church, a church family he loved and respected.
Bob was extremely invested in his family. He spent as much time as he could helping his parents on the family farm. When his mother became more frail, he could be counted on to take her to doctors' appointments and even shopping if needed. He was a loving son to both of his parents. He would have given his life for his children; he loved them so much. There was never enough time for him to show all of his love. Bob and Harold wrestled more than once as children. It was usually a draw who won or who was ahead when Dad or Mom ended the battle. But they loved each other and played some slow-pitch softball together. His first sister was a bit more special because she was his fourth birthday present!
Bob loved sports. He kept up the last few years of his younger sister's basketball career and could give her more stats than she knew. He spent years as a basketball referee. In those years, he only threatened to eject one fan from the game! He enjoyed being a part of the action.
Farming was another interest for Bob. After his parents died, he and his siblings continued operating the farm for a few years until it became too much to do long distance. He loved to operate the combines and the trucks. He only got backed into once when he was waiting in line to dump his load of wheat when another truck rolled back into him while at the Burlington CO-OP! Bob had a degree in accounting so he kept the farm books after his dad died. He was so smart academically, even helping a sister-in-law through her calculus class.
Faith in Christ was also a big part of who Bob was. Connie wants everyone to know how special it was for her to have a husband raised in faith and in prayer. In the end, Bob was showing her his faith! When Connie's faith would falter, Bob's would not which would help Connie. His faith never, ever faltered even with all life threw at him-and he went through some emotionally terrible times.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister Carolyn. He is survived by his devoted wife, Connie; his daughter Abby (Aaron) Fleming of Shreveport, Louisiana, son Eric (Tina) Parr of Yukon, Oklahoma; son Clifford (Jane) Phillips of Tulsa, Oklahoma; brother Harold (Suzy) Parr of Oklahoma City; brother-in-law Ken Hoadley of Flint, Michigan; and sister Janette (Bobby) Payne of Kearney, Nebraska. He also has four grandkids Collin, Cale, Camryn, Callen. In addition, he has two great-grandchildren Ella and Briggs.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Oklahoma Parkinsons Foundation, with Ladusau-Evans serving as custodian of the funds.
