Cherryl Gist, age 81, of Fairview, OK, was born on April 3, 1945, in Fort Bend, KS, to William and Bernice (Bennett) Northweather, and passed away on June 21, 2026, in Fairview surrounded by her loving family.
Cherryl was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary and proudly served as President in Odessa, Texas. She had a creative spirit and enjoyed crocheting, and she dearly loved her dogs and all animals. A devoted country music fan, Cherryl especially enjoyed attending concerts featuring Merle Haggard, Dale Watson, Johnny Lee, and Mickey Gilley.
Cherryl spent more than forty years as a hairdresser, building lasting friendships with clients while serving the Oklahoma City area and later Cleveland, Oklahoma. She took great pride in her work and the relationships she formed throughout her career.
Cherryl was united in marriage to Walter Northweather in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Together they shared four years of marriage and were blessed with three children. She later married Larry Gist in 1995, and they enjoyed nearly nineteen years together until his passing in 2014.
Cherryl will be remembered for her kind heart, her love of family and friends, her compassion for animals, and the joy she found in music and the simple pleasures of life.
Cherryl is preceded in death her parents; husband Larry; son Jeff Winget; brother Kelly Northwather; and great grandchild Elliott Winget. She is survived by her children, Tracy Winget; Sherilyn Hoeltzel and husband Roger; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
