Ethel Lenora Krout, age 100, of Shawnee, KS, formally of Enid, was born on February 9, 1926, in Chickasha, OK to George and Edna (Hoover) Harris, and passed away on May 13, 2026, surrounded by her family. A private family graveside will be held May 19th 2026 in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Service arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home and Crematory.
Ethel married Charles on May 23, 1944 and welcomed 3 wonderful children. From those 3 children Ethel was blessed with seven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and 10 great-great grandchildren. Ethel was not only a wife and mother but also an accomplished baker, with her techniques achieving outstanding results and rise others could only aspire to. Her family always looked forward to Thanksgiving when she passed out her famous pumpkin bread. Ethel was also a no-nonsense boss when she ran the Metro truck stop serving her homestyle recipes. Food was a love language for her, she could take food you didn't think you liked but when she cooked it, it became your favorite meal ever eaten. Anyone who was lucky enough to receive one of her meals could taste the love and care she poured into it. The same love and care that she poured into her family for the last 100 years.
Ethel is preceded in death by her parents; husband Charles Richard Krout Sr; sister Rosalie Wilson; and great-great grandson Zion "Z" Collins. She is survived by three children, Shirley Jean Spalding, Nora Mae Snyder (Steve), and Charles Richard Krout Jr.(Maria);
As Ethel loved flowers, they can be sent to Ladusau-Evans at 2800 N Van Buren St, Enid, OK 73703 or to her celebration of Life at Community of Christ Church 7842 Mission Rd, Prairie Village, KS 66208. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Ethel's name may be made to Parkinson's Foundation with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home and Crematory serving as custodian of the funds.
