Fred was born on July 19, 1950, in Vallejo, California to Gilbert and Frances (Nelson) Weibling. He claimed to have attended "12 different schools in 6 different states", but graduated from Woodward High School in 1968. He furthered his education at Northwestern OK State University, earning a bachelor's degree in education in 1972. Fred's passion for teaching led him to a long and dedicated career in education. His first teaching position was as a Speech and Debate teacher at Woodward Public Schools, a role that ignited his lifelong commitment to shaping young minds.
Fred moved on to Balko Public Schools, where he served as High School principal from 1982 to 1991. His journey in educational leadership continued when he obtained his Superintendent certification from Oklahoma State University. Fred's leadership extended to Garber, Oklahoma, where he served as the superintendent of schools from 1991 to 1993, then moved on to Hooker Public Schools from 1993 to 1996. His work took him to Missouri where he served at Stet and Madison as superintendent until his retirement in 2013. Fred found great fulfillment in his work, not only as an educator but also as a mentor, guiding many students and colleagues throughout his career. On June 18, 1999, Fred married Barbara Kitchell, in Lexington, Missouri. Together, they built a life full of love, laughter, and cherished memories. In 2013, Fred and Barbara moved to Enid to be closer to Fred's grandkids, where they enjoyed their retirement years together. After retiring, Fred continued to serve his community, enjoying his role as a bus driver and photographer for Garber Public Schools.
Fred is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara; two sons, Sean (Ashley) Weibling and Scott (Meg) Weibling; four grandchildren, Alexander, Elizabeth, Jackson, and Jayci; and his sister, Sharon Cothern. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who held him dear.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gilbert Weibling; stepfather, Carl Perrin; mother, Frances Perrin; sister, Peggy Arinder; and three stepbrothers, Randy, Roger, and Ronnie Perrin.
Fred's legacy of dedication, leadership, and kindness will continue to live on in the lives of those he touched throughout his many years of service to his community and beyond. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, colleagues, and all who knew him.
