Jerry Melott

Jerry Lynn Melott was called home to be with the Lord, his Savior, Jesus early Sunday morning, September 14th, 2025 at the age of 79. Jerry was born on May 24th, 1946 in Enid, OK to George & Lucille Melott and was the middle of three brothers, Larry being the older & Dale the younger.

Jerry grew up in Enid and spent his entire life residing there. He graduated from Enid High School in 1964. His high school interests included Bible class, journalism, and music. Jerry loved listening to music and playing guitar.

After high school, Jerry married Bonnie Williams in 1966 and they had two children; Jerry Scott, born in 1968 and Kristina Lynnette, born in 1971. He served in the Army National Guard for 6 years from 1966-1972.

Jerry spent most of his professional career in sales, working in a variety of industries including cars, farm equipment, and retail. He was the owner of Cole's Shoebox in downtown Enid for a few years in the 1970s. He was well-loved in the Enid community and known for his friendliness and sense of humor. It was rare for him to be anywhere in town and not strike up a conversation with a friend or acquaintance.

In 1986 he met Carolyn Pothetos Stetz and they married and had two sons, Joshua Eric Melott in 1987 and Jeremy Lynn Melott in 1988.

Jerry loved his Redeemer, Jesus and in recent years spent hours daily in God's Word and in prayer. He loved Oklahoma Sooners football, the Dallas Cowboys, and western movies.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, George and Lucille Melott and his wife Carolyn Melott. He is survived by his brothers, Larry Melott and Dale Melott; his children Scott Melott and wife Jessica, Kristi Strunk and husband Troy, Josh Melott and Jeremy Melott; his 10 grandchildren Dustin Wasson, Katie Gailey, Evie Jo Melott, Lucy Melott, Bonnie Melott, Lilly Melott, Saroja Melott, Josh Melott, Hannah Cunningham, and Aurora Melott; his three great-grandchildren Patrick Wasson, Mackenzie Gailey and Maisy Gailey.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, September 27th, 2025 at 10:00am in the Garden Pavillion at Memorial Park Cemetery in Enid, OK. Service arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home and Crematory.
