Joy Ann Harrison

Joy Ann (Mahan) Harrison, born August 24, 1936, at State University Hospital in Oklahoma City, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2026, at the age of 89, in Edmond, Oklahoma, surrounded by her family.

Joy Ann was born to Rosa Lee Pruitt and Verma Floyd Hughes and was later adopted by her stepfather, Russell Bledsoe. As part of a military family, Joy Ann lived in many places throughout her childhood. She especially cherished the time she spent at her grandmother's farm in Reed, Oklahoma, and spent the majority of her growing-up years in Enid, Oklahoma.

Joy Ann attended St. Joe's through the eighth grade and graduated from Memorial High School at St. Francis of Assisi in Enid. After graduating from Memorial High School, Joy Ann felt a calling to religious life and to become a Sister of Christ. She followed that calling by attending Sacred Heart in Wichita, Kansas, for two years, an experience that became a meaningful part of her young life. Most of her career was spent in the medical field working at St. Mary's Hospital and for several physician's practices.

After returning to Enid, she met and married Roy G. Mahan in 1958, and together they raised four children: Sharon, Debra, Randy, and Shelley. Family was always at the heart of Joy Ann's life. She treasured her children and took great joy in watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow through the years.

In her later years, Joy Ann was a resident of Ignite Medical Resort in Edmond, Oklahoma, where she became a constant source of joy to everyone around her. She had a special gift for making fellow residents and the staff members feel loved and appreciated. She made it a point to ask everyone who entered her room their name, tell them they were "pretty" or "handsome," tell them, "I love you," and "thank you" for everything they did for her.

Joy Ann is survived by her daughter, Debra Gardner (Mark), of Edmond, Oklahoma; her son, Randy Mahan (Lori), of Edmond, Oklahoma; and her daughter, Shelley Graham (Brad) of Arvada, Colorado. She is also survived by her sister, Carolyn Conrady; Bob Bledsoe and his wife, Lucia, of Jenks, Oklahoma; and many nieces and nephews.

Her grandchildren who called her Meme include Christian Gardner of Oklahoma City; Taylor McKee and her husband, Ernie of Oklahoma City; Conner Mahan and his fiancée, Olivia of Oklahoma City; Garrett Graham and his wife, Laura, of Lakewood, Colorado; Owen Graham and his wife, Lauren, of Denver, Colorado; and Jack Graham and his wife, Lizzy, of Arvada, Colorado.

Joy Ann was blessed with great-grandchildren Harper and Logan Graham, George and Theo McKee, Crosby and Sadie Graham, and Sloane Graham, who brought her much joy and happiness.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sharon Patrice Mahan; her husband, Donald Harrison; her mother, Rosa Lee Bledsoe; her sister, Patsy Nix; her brother, Butch Bledsoe; and her sister, Charlotte Schultz.

Memorials can be made in her honor to St. Jude with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home and Crematory serving as custodians of the funds.

A Celebration of Life service for Joy will be 10:00 am Saturday at Ladusau-Evans Chapel with Deacon Joe Roder officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home and Crematory.
