Karen Lorene Bergner

August 18, 1950 — August 12, 2026

Karen Lorene (Headrick) Bergner passed peacefully in her home in North Enid, OK on August 12, 2026. Karen was born on August 18, 1950, in Guymon, OK to Harlin and Marjorie (Hudson) Headrick. She was the oldest of the six Headrick children: Karen, Jeannie, Billie, Marsha, Pete, and Susie. Karen attended Guymon Public Schools and graduated from Guymon High School in 1968. Shortly after graduation, she began her college education at Oklahoma Panhandle State University in Goodwell, OK where the love of her life, John Bergner, caught her eye in the Student Union.

John and Karen were wed at Panhandle Bible Center in Guymon, OK on March 21, 1971, and began their family the following April. Karen was a devoted wife and mother and took a break from her education to help on the Bergner farm in Texhoma, OK and raise their 3 children: Chris, Brandon and Adrienne. The family eventually left the farm and moved to town. The family attended First Christian Church of Texhoma where they developed many close and loving friendships and Karen faithfully served as a Sunday School teacher.

Karen returned to college and finished a degree in education in 1986. She proudly taught in the Texhoma Public School district for 20 years. Every student she had was special to her and she impacted their lives greatly. Mrs. Bergner eventually retired from teaching and John and Karen moved to Enid, OK so she could become her favorite role in life, "The Granny Nanny" to her beloved grandchildren. They attended Oakwood Christian Church and served in many different roles within the church.

Karen is survived by her loving husband, John and their children Chris and his wife Tanda, Brandon and his wife Michelle, Adrienne and her husband Jim Kirkland; her grandchildren Kylee and her family, Dakota and his family, Rody and his family, Johnathan, Will, Ben, Karson and Korbin; her mother, Marjorie Headrick; her siblings Sharon (Jeannie) and her husband Mack Hinchey, Billie and her husband Joe Bass, Marsha Truitt, Pete and his wife Deborah, and Susie Johnson; brother-in-law Robert Bergner and wife Donna, and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Harlin Headrick, and her in-laws, George and Francis Bergner.

The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at Elara Caring Hospice for their compassionate care and support.
