Lee Roy (Skip) Whitmer III, 76, of Enid, Oklahoma, passed away on May 9, 2025. He was born August 12, 1948, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, to Lee Roy Whitmer II and Barbara Whitmer.
Skip grew up in Fort Smith and attended St. Anne's Catholic School, where he was a standout athlete. He played on three state championship football teams and was a lifelong baseball player, continuing into college. He earned his Doctorate in Pharmacy from Southwestern Oklahoma State University, where he met his future wife, Patricia Kay Heffel.
Skip built a 35-year career as a pharmaceutical salesman with Eli Lilly. He and Pat married and raised two sons, Doug and Mike. Skip coached Doug in baseball for over a decade and never missed a game, taking immense pride in supporting both sons on the field and in life. He and Pat especially loved watching their boys succeed in sports.
Family was always Skip's highest priority. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and a compassionate caregiver to Pat during her illness. He cherished family gatherings in Okeene and found peace in Red River, New Mexico-his favorite place on earth.
Beyond his career and family, Skip had a deep love of sports. He officiated high school football and basketball for many years and was inducted into the OSSAA Officials Hall of Fame in 2020-a testament to his fairness, consistency, and integrity on the field.
He also enjoyed golf, time with friends, and supporting his granddaughters, Kodi Kay and Tayte Reese, in all their activities. His quiet strength, loyalty, and love for family shaped every part of his life.
Skip was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Patricia; and his son, Doug. He is survived by his son, Mike Whitmer, and daughter-in-law, Megan; granddaughters, Kodi Kay and Tayte Reese; daughter-in-law, Amber Whitmer; sister, Sally, and her wife, Nona; and many extended family and friends.
Skip's legacy lives on in the lives he touched-with kindness, calm resolve, and unwavering support. He will be deeply missed.
