Lyle Everett George, 96, of Grove, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026.
Lyle was born May 11, 1929, in Sand Creek near Wakita, Oklahoma, to Everett and Gail (Tharp) George. He graduated from Gore Consolidated High School in 1947 and went on to attend Northwestern State College before transferring to the University of Oklahoma in 1948. He graduated from the OU School of Pharmacy in 1951, beginning a lifelong career serving others as a pharmacist.
Lyle first worked at Cornell RX before purchasing a pharmacy in Argonia, Kansas in 1953. After selling the pharmacy about a year later, he returned to Enid, Oklahoma where he worked for Scheffe Pharmacy and Sanford Stunkle Drug. In 1962, he purchased a Rexall Drug store in Davis, Oklahoma, where he and his wife established their home and raised their family while their children attended and graduated from Davis High School.
Later in life, Lyle and Patsy moved to the Grand Lake area near Grove, Oklahoma and purchased Blue Bluff Harbor Resort. After several years they relocated to Monkey Island in 1984. Lyle continued serving others through relief pharmacy work and later worked at the State Hospital in Vinita, Oklahoma. In 1997, he and Patsy built their home northeast of Grove, where they remained for the rest of his life.
On Easter Sunday, April 10, 1955, Lyle married the love of his life, Patsy R. Hedges. Together they built a life centered around family, hard work, and community.
Lyle was known for being hardworking, funny, and stubborn in the best ways. He loved spending time with his family at home and especially enjoyed golfing with his brothers-in-law and his sons. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors whenever he had the chance.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Gail George; his sister, Anita; his brother, Ercil George; and his sister, Leah Elliot.
He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 71 years, Patsy George; his sons, Wade George and wife Lorri of Choctaw, Oklahoma, Layne George of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Lon George of Coweta, Oklahoma; his sister, Verla Hayes of Tulsa, OK; his grandchildren, Haley McCarthy and husband Kip of Edmond, Oklahoma and their children Kase and Madison; Kelsey Sands and husband Bryant of Lowell, Arkansas; and Evan George and wife Hannah of Bartlesville, Oklahoma and their children Luke and Caleb.
Lyle will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his strong work ethic, and the many years he spent caring for and serving the communities he called home. After nearly a century of life, he leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and memories that will continue to be passed down through his family for generations to come.
Visitation will be held from 1:00-3:00 pm, Friday, March 20, 2026, at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home & Crematory in Enid, Oklahoma, where friends and family are invited to come and pay their respects and celebrate Lyle's life.
