A Celebration of Life service for Marlene M. Haggard will be 3:00pm, Thursday, January 29, 2026, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Devon Krause officiating, with burial following in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00pm, Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home and Crematory.
Marlene Marie (Dirksen) Haggard passed away on January 25, 2026. She was born on the family farm northeast of Medford, OK on June 21, 1936, to William and Bertha (Janzen) Dirksen.
Marlene attended country schools until attending Medford High for 3 years before graduating from Deer Creek High School in 1954. She then graduated from Enid Business College in 1955. After graduation, she worked for George E. Failing Company in the accounting department.
On January 25, 1958, she married Earl Haggard at the Deer Creek Mennonite Church in Deer Creek, OK. They lived in Stillwater, OK, while Earl was attending Oklahoma State University and Marlene worked in the accounting department at the University. In 1959, they moved to Wichita, KS, where their son Tim was born. In 1961, they moved to Mendota, IL. In 1963, they moved to Enid, OK. Their son Scott was born there in 1964.
Marlene was involved in the Boy Scouts as a Den Mother and Chairperson for the District Leadership Roundtable. She received the District Award of Merit in 1977. She has been an active member of the First United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women which she held several offices and served on many committees. She served as the registrar for Vacation Bible School and 25 years as the treasurer for the TNT Sunday School class. Marlene and Earl participated in Methodist Mission trips to Louisiana, Alaska, and Mexico.
Marlene and Earl owned and operated Industrial Materials Corporation where she worked as the secretary for many years. After retiring, they enjoyed traveling to all 50 states, Canada, and Europe. She was always there to support her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren in all of their activities.
Marlene is survived by her husband Earl, of the home. Her sons Tim and wife Earla, Scott and wife Darla, all of Enid, OK. Her grandchildren Karen and husband Pedro Perez, of Enid, OK; Amanda and husband Casey Felz, of Mildenhall Royal Air Force Base England; Natalie and husband Liam Vennerholm, of Tulsa, OK; and Ethan Haggard and wife Ashlyn, of Minco, OK. Great grand-children Bailey Bules, Emery Key, Kinley Key, Elivia Perez, and Joscelyn Perez. She is also survived by a sister Darlene Dierksen Decker, a brother Don Dirksen and multiple extended family members. She is proceeded in death by her parents, William and Bertha Dirksen, an infant sister, and an infant brother.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to United Methodist Committee on Relief or United Methodist Circle of Care or the charity of your choice.
