Graveside services for Pauline Beverly "Peggy" Leatherman, 97, of Wichita Falls, Texas, formerly of Enid, will be 10:00 am,
Friday, March 27, 2026, in the chapel of Enid Cemetery. Minister David Daniels will officiate. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home and Crematory.
After a long and blessed life, Pauline Beverly "Peggy" Leatherman went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 22, 2026, in Wichita Falls, Texas. Born in Enid, Oklahoma, on November 25, 1928, to John Cornelius "Jack" and Pauline (Eickhoff) Lamb, Peggy grew up in a loving home alongside her sister, Betty. She was a proud graduate of Enid High School and followed her calling to serve others by attending nursing school at St. Mary's Hospital.
While working as a nurse, Peggy met the love of her life, Douglas Leatherman. The two were wed in 1950, and Peggy devotedly continued her nursing career to support Doug through medical school. They eventually settled in Weatherford, Oklahoma, where they spent 17 wonderful years raising their family while Doug served the community as a physician. Peggy's life was defined by her role as a faithful Christian and a selfless caretaker; she tenderly looked after her parents, her husband, and her aunts, eventually sharing her gifts as a hospice nurse.
Peggy had a deep love for nature and people, though she was perhaps most famous among friends for her fondness for Hershey's chocolate. She was quick witted and it would be rare to get anything by her. Known for her joyful spirit, she remained content and full of laughter even in her final days, always managing to bring a smile to those around her. Her legacy of kindness and her vibrant, contented heart will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Peggy was preceded by her beloved parents, Jack and Pauline, her husband, Doug, and her sister, Betty Branen. She is survived by her three children: Dr. John Leatherman and his wife Ann, Sheila Carter and her husband Mike, and Dana Daniels and her husband David. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren-Lincoln, Weston, Chrissie, Allyssa, Michaelann, Douglas, and Cherise-along with eight great-grandchildren, all of whom carry forward the light of her loving spirit.
Memorial contributions in Peggy's name may be made to House of Hope with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
