Service arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will receive friends from 6-7 pm, on Tuesday, October 13, 2026 at the funeral home.

Peggy Louise Schaffer was born to Pansy and Emmitt Miller on September 7, 1926, in Zincville, Oklahoma and passed away in Enid, Oklahoma on October 8, 2026. She enjoyed a remarkable life for one hundred years, one month and one day. Peggy moved with her family to Enid before she was three years old. She graduated from Enid High School with the class of 1944.

Peggy met Howard Schaffer after he returned from the Navy and they married in Wellington, Kansas on December 15, 1946. Peggy worked for Southwestern Bell as a telephone operator. One of her jobs was to call clients and teach them how to use the telephone lines.

Howard and Peggy purchased a home in Enid, and their first daughter Jenny was born in October 1948. Their second daughter Pamelia was born in March 1954.

Peggy excelled at bookkeeping and was the credit manager at Montgomery Ward, then worked for Clements Plumbing and State Beauty Supply. She owned and operated Peggy's Dairy Queen in the late 60's, early 70's where she provided first employment opportunities for many teenagers. Peggy participated in WIBC and bowled in the women's bowling every Monday evening. She and Howard along with members of the bowling team traveled to all 48 continental states for WIBC tournaments. As a couple they made it through all 50 states. She was a terrific navigator while Howard drove the Winnebago all over the country.

Although she would deny it, she was a skillful seamstress, painter, and cook and an awesome volunteer. Her volunteer work stands out as one of her biggest contributions volunteering with the Oklahoma Blood Institute for over thirty years. She was a member of Central Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) for 75 years and was active with Christian Women's Fellowship (CWF).

Peggy raised three girls, Jenny, Pamelia, and Lesli. She is survived by her two daughters, Jenny Wade and Pamelia Lenker, Norman, granddaughters, Leanne Wade, Lesli Snow, Kevin, Laurie Forrest, and Sarah Bogue, grandson, Shawn Bogue, nine great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.

Memorial contributions can be made to Central Christian Church, with Ladusau-Evans serving as custodian of the funds.
