Ray Dean Bartel
Ray Dean Bartel, age 82, of Enid, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2025.
He was born on May 17, 1943, to Edward E. Bartel, Sr. and Pearl (Estes) Cronister in Enid, Oklahoma. Ray was raised in the Longdale, Canton, and Enid communities, where he developed a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for the outdoors. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War era. Ray was known for his love of fishing, quick-witted storytelling, and daily devotion to word searches and crossword puzzles. He had a gift for bringing laughter to those around him and for finding beauty in life's smallest moments.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward E. Bartel, Sr., and Pearl and Junior Cronister; his brothers, Richard Cronister, Nelson Cronister, and Ronnie Bartel; his grandson, Tyler Shelton; and a beloved uncle, Clinton Ray Bartel.
Ray is survived by his children, including Paula Woolery of Texas and Steven Bartel of Enid, Oklahoma; his brother, Eddie Bartel of Longdale, OK; five sisters-Kathy Cronister of Watonga, Barbara Johnson of Covington, Gail Poplin, Pam Bigbey, and Debra Bell, all of Enid, Oklahoma; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and friends who will remember him with fondness.
A Celebration of Life will be held on August 16, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the Breckinridge Community Center to honor Ray's life. His stories, strength, and laughter will live on in the hearts of all who knew him
