Ronald Lehenbauer

October 29, 1941 — January 31, 2026

Ronald Eugene Lehenbauer, age 84, of Waukomis, passed away Saturday, January 31, 2026, in Enid. It was Ronnie's wishes to be cremated, so no services will be held at this time. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home and Crematory.

Ronnie was born October 29, 1941, in Ames, Oklahoma, to Buster and Mildred (Crawford) Lehenbauer. He graduated high school in Brooksville, Kansas in 1959, then enlisted with the Marine Corps where he served his country for four years. After being honorably discharged, he worked in different capacities but ultimately went to work for BNSF Railroad where he worked for many years before retiring. He married Evelyn Wayman on September 17, 1971, in Newkirk, Oklahoma. Ronnie and Evelyn made their home in the Waukomis community where they raised their two children, Eric and Ronda.

For over 30 years, Ronnie was known for being a talented blacksmith and welder in the Waukomis area. One thing that brought him some extra notoriety and the nickname "The Penny Blacksmith," was his penny cowboy hats. Once at an assembly at Waukomis Elementary School, he presented a special award for one student in each grade, something for which they didn't ask or pay; Ronnie liked to spot children who looked like they could use a smile or just something free.

Ronnie is preceded in death by his parents, Buster and Mildred Lehenbauer, daughter, Ronda Countess, and sister-in-law Patricia Gregory. He is survived by his wife Evelyn, son Eric Lehenbauer and wife Jackie, brothers, Doyle Lehenbauer and wife Jan, Steve Lehenbauer and wife Sue, sister Karen Hayes and husband Robert, and sister Laticia Morris. Brother-in-law Rex Gregory also survives Ronnie as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Memorial contributions in Ronnie's name may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
