Funeral Services for Sophia Toews Thesman, age 105, of Enid, will be 10 am, Monday, June 30, 2025 at Crosspoint Church with Reverend Asher Griffin officiating. Burial will follow at Enid Mennonite Brethren Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-7pm, Sunday, June 29, 2025 at the funeral home. Service arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home and Crematory.
Sara Sophia Toews Thesman, known to most as "Sophie", entered the arms of Jesus June 24, 2025 at the age of 105 after a full and blessed life of family, friends, church & community.
She was born in Enid to A. G. & Susana (Regier) Toews on May 9, 1920. The family moved to Nebraska where she attended school and learned to enjoy playing the harmonica, then back to Enid in her teens and attended Bible School
She married Ruben Thesman January 9, 1944 and moved to Kremlin where they farmed and began their family. She was an active member of Enid Mennonite Brethren Church (Crosspoint) and the Kremlin Home Culture Club. Besides being busy as a mother of 5 and farmer's wife, she worked at the Kremlin Café, then the Bank of Kremlin, and later for the Garfield County Election Board untill she was 90.
She was deeply loved by her surviving children, Rita Schmidt, Enid; Terry Thesman (Kenda), Pond Creek; Carol Wink (Jim) Meridian, MS; son-in-law, Phil Ruttan, Overland Park, KS & daughter-in-law, Becky Thesman, Enid; grandchildren, Jake Schmidt, Sarah Brueggemann (Steven), Bethany Butler (Brady), Phillip Ruttan (Jeanine), David Ruttan (Kim), Melissa Digirlamo (Mary), Matt Wink, Brett Wink, Aaron Thesman (Kathleen), Emily Rivera (Luz), Tiffany McCloud (Luke), & Ruben Thesman (Anna); along with 30 great-grandchildren; and one great great- granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, George, Johnny, Joel & Calvin Toews & Sister Ella Wiens; daughter, Jeri Ruttan; son, Tim Thesman; and son-in-law, Fred Schmidt.
Donations may be made in her name to The Wildhorse Gang, Kremlin, with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home and Crematory serving as custodian of the funds.
