Steven D. Hayes passed away at his home in Enid, Oklahoma after putting up a strong and courageous fight, on August 18th, 2025, with his loving wife of 44 years, Shawncee, by his side. Born May 24, 1954, in San Pedro, California, to Danny Vincent Hayes and Patricia Jean MacDonald, Steve grew up in Ramona, California and made his life about family, faith, and hard work. While living in Ramona, he started Hayes Fencing and raised his children. In 2013, he made his way to Enid, Oklahoma, where he spent his later years. Enjoyed being surrounded by his growing family. Steve was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather Archie MacDonald; brothers, Tim and Terry Hayes; and sister Laurie Nelson. He is survived by his wife, Shawncee, and their six children: Angie Woolf (Brian), Danny Hayes (Rebeca), Shonnie Willems (Klancy), Ryan Hayes (Elyse), Rachelle Bray (Shawn), and Taneal Hayes.
He was “Popo” to his grandchildren Breanna, Kale, Maddox, Gage, Lucas, Stevee, Casey, Sawyer, Lillian, Ivee, and one on the way. Great-grandfather to Zadyen, CJ, and Nova. He leaves behind his siblings Mike Hayes, Patrick Hayes, and Tammy Reid. Steve was also a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. Steve always found a way to bring laughter into the room. He will be remembered not just for the life he lived, but for the strength, lessons, and love he passed on to his family.
There are no formal services planned at this time, the family will celebrate Steven’s life on a later date.
