A Celebration of Life Service for Steven Ray Thompson, age 73, of Ponca City, OK, will be 1:00 pm, Saturday, October 24, 2026, at the Allbright United Methodist Church, Ponca City, OK, with Rev. Andy Lambel officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home and Crematory.

Steven was born on February 23, 1953, to Martha Wolfe and Leon Thompson, and passed away in his sleep at Integris Hospital in Ponca City, Oklahoma, at 3:33 pm, on September 23, 2026, surrounded by his family.

Steven grew up in Ponca City and Marland, Oklahoma, where he attended school. After graduating, he joined the United States Marine Corps and was stationed at El Toro in Irvine, California, for four years. During his time in California, he met Karen Behavior, and they were married on June 14, 1975.

After his discharge from the Marine Corps, Steven and Karen returned to Ponca City, where he became involved with the Ponca City Jaycees. He served as both vice president and president of the organization. Steven also enjoyed giving back to his community by setting off fireworks for Ponca City for more than 10 years.

Steven's commitment to serving others extended beyond the Jaycees. He and his friend, David Turner, served as Explorer troop leaders and helped establish monitors for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). Through his involvement in the community, Steven dedicated many years to serving others and making a difference in the lives of those around him.

Steven was a master tile setter who owned and operated his own company for more than 50 years. Throughout his career, he tiled countless homes and businesses in Ponca City, Stillwater, and the surrounding areas, earning a reputation for his skill and dedication to his craft.

Family was very important to Steven, and he took great pride in spending time with his children and grandchildren. He loved watching his son, Ryan, play sports, especially football, and enjoyed attending his grandchildren's activities and sporting events. He especially enjoyed watching his grandson, Dominick, march in the marching band, and cherished watching Gabby practice gymnastics in the yard and playing school with her.

In his spare time, Steven enjoyed barbecuing, gardening, and spending time outdoors. He loved feeding his chickens worms and giving affection to his beloved pets. His love of nature also took him to Colorado to elk hunt, and he enjoyed hunting and fishing whenever he had the opportunity. Steven also liked visiting the casino to enjoy a meal and play games. Above all, he treasured the time he spent with his family and friends, creating memories that will be cherished for years to come.

Steven is survived by his wife Karen Thompson of the home in Ponca City; daughter Jessica Yandell and husband Michael Yandell of Ponca City; son Steven Ryan Thompson and his wife Lindsay Thompson of Shidler, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Tyler, Dominick, and Gabriella Yandell, Addison and Bo Thompson, and Nate Flippin.

Steven was loved by nearly everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. His kindness, warmth, and love for those around him touched many lives. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him.
