Terry Wayne Travis, 65, was born in Wichita, Sedgwick County, Kansas, in August of 1960 to Charles V. Travis of Oklahoma and Anna I. Travis (nee Schlegel) formerly of Pennsylvania; and passed away in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on June 20, 2026, after a battle with cancer.
As the result of his father's death when Terry was only nine years old, his family situation required him to develop a very strong work ethic. That trait remained a part of his character for the rest of his life. As a child he maintained a newspaper delivery route and learned the value of money and personal thriftiness.
Terry attended Roosevelt Grade School, Waller Junior High School and Enid High School. While in high school, he attended vocational-technical classes where he developed a great skill for electronics. From 1979 through 2020, he worked at various positions at Vance Air Force Base. For most of those years he was a Simulator Tech II-III and a Quality Control Inspector for flight simulators, including those for T-37, T-38, and T-1A aircraft. Through the years he was employed by various civilian contractors to the USAF. Terry lived in various locations in Enid, most recently in the Willow Lake Addition. In 2020, he retired and moved to Oklahoma City for medical reasons.
Terry liked to trade in the stock market, buy and sell firearms, tinker with electronics, learn about sports cars and follow the St. Louis Cardinal baseball team. He loved the idea of traveling in retirement, even dreaming of living abroad. Unfortunately, ill health prevented him from doing so.
His greatest joy, however, came from spending time with his family. He was a son, a brother and perhaps most of all, he was Uncle Terry, a gentle soul with a huge heart of gold.
He never married nor had children of his own. He is survived by his sister Debbie A. Travis-Blakley (Patrick) of Oklahoma City, brother David W. Huff and niece Sydney R. Huff, both of Bixby, Oklahoma, nephew Shawn P. Blakley (Bryoney) of Oklahoma City, many aunts, uncles and cousins as well as a host of friends. Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Anna.
A funeral service is scheduled for Friday, June 26, 2026, at 10:00 AM, in the Garden Chapel at Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home and Crematory.
