Thalia Lou Doak, age 86, of Enid, passed away Monday, November 10, 2025. Memorial service will be held Monday, November 17 at 1:30 p.m. in the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jim Edmison officiating. Inurnment in the columbarium of First United Methodist Church, Enid will follow immediately. Cremation and services are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home and Crematory.
Thalia was born June 20, 1939, at Plainview, Texas, to Everett and Modena (Rea) Stafford. She was attending school in Dallas when she met a young ministerial student at church. She and Bascom Parks Doak were wed on December 27, 1957, in Dallas. There followed a move to Oklahoma, where together they raised three children. She accepted God's call to be an educator of children and earned her B.Ed degree from Central State University in Edmond in 1987. Whether in a public school classroom, a private preschool, or in the children's division of her church, Thalia spent her life teaching little ones. Her classroom was always the noisiest and the most productive in the building. Her students learned, but they learned joyfully and at full volume.
Surviving are her husband of 68 years, Bascom, of the home, and three children: Dara K. Doak, of Oklahoma City, Victor E. Doak and wife Marit, of Drammen, Norway, and Stephen G. Doak and wife Stefanie of Oklahoma City. She cherished her seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren, all of whom survive her.
Memorial contributions in Thalia's name may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Enid, designated for Children's Ministry.
