Funeral Service for Velma "June" Bone, age 94, of Enid, will be 10:00 am, Friday, May, 1, 2026 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Pastors Jonathan Meyer and Kenneth Wade officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Service arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm, Thursday, April 30, 2026 at the funeral home.
Velma was born on September 13, 1931 in Hillsdale, OK to Albert and Sadie (Fratzke) Hoeltzel, and passed away on April 27, 2026 in Enid surrounded by her lil sis.
She graduated from Hillsdale High School in 1949 and soon began her career as an operator with Southwestern Bell. During those early working years, she and several coworkers took a memorable trip to California on a troop train. On April 11, 1958, she married Donald Wayne Bone at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Enid. The couple spent several years moving throughout Oklahoma, Kansas, and Texas while Don worked in the oilfield, before making Enid their permanent home in 1970.
In Enid, Velma became an active member of her community. She belonged to Beta Sigma Phi and volunteered alongside her husband at the Enid State School, where they participated in activities with residents. She was also a lifetime member of the Pioneer Telephone Women. After 34 years of dedicated service, she retired from Southwestern Bell in 1984.
Family was at the heart of Velma's life. She was deeply involved in the lives of her nieces and nephews, faithfully attending confirmations, graduations, ball games, and concerts. She cherished time spent with loved ones at the lake and found joy in cooking, fishing, and gathering around an open fire.
Velma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald Wayne Bone; her brother, Gerald Hoeltzel; her sister-in-law, Mary Ann Hoeltzel; and her nephew, Erin Logan.
She is survived by her sister, Lila Logan-Jansonius and husband Gary; nephews Mickey Hoeltzel and Roger Hoeltzel and wife Sherilyn; nieces Sherry Schallner and husband Jay, and Lisa Roussell and husband Richard; stepdaughters Donna Walker and Karen Burg; and ten great-nieces and nephews.
