Obituary for John Eugene Huckleberry

A Service of Remembrance and Celebration of Life for John Eugene Huckleberry, 86, of Enid will be Tuesday, September 23, 2014, 11:00 AM at The First United Methodist Church with Revs. Randy Mitchell and Susan Southall officiating. Interment will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home on Monday from 6 to 7 PM.

John was born July 5, 1928 in Longdale, OK the son of Cecil and Helen Long Huckleberry and passed away September 19, 2014. He was a graduate of Longdale High School where he played basketball. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict. He was united in marriage to Norma Jean Rankin June 25, 1952 in Fairview, OK. In 1958, they moved to Enid where he was employed as a sales representative by American Electric Company and retired in 1996. John was a 56 year member of First United Methodist Church of Enid where he attended the Sooner Sunday School Class and also an active Member of the Enid Civitan Club. He was an avid sports fan, especially OU football and basketball and golf. He loved going to sports activities of his children and his grandchildren. In his retirement he enjoyed spending time at the farm. He will be remembered as a loving husband, the best daddy and grandfather in the whole world.

Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Heim and her husband, Lynn, Carol Clark and her love Mel, six wonderful grandchildren, Kendra, Emily, Katie, Brian, Kayla and Ryan and six dear great-grandchildren, and a brother Jack Huckleberry. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife Norma Jean, his parents, a granddaughter, Leslie and a brother, Lee.

Memorial contributions may be made to OMRF, Alzheimer’s division, with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home custodian of the fund. Condolences may be made online at ladusauevans.com.
