Boppo - first off, I can't wait until the day I get to see you again. I know you're looking down on each and everyone of us with a smile and crystal clear blue eyes, at peace. I trust that when you arrived, you were welcomed home with a pat on the back and a "job well done." You certainly earned it. Whether it was being a husband, father, grand father or role model, you always set a prime example of how to do things in life. You and Meme together built a life and family worthy of praise that you were justifyably proud of. How blessed we were to be a part of what you created.
I have thought long and hard about my favorite memory and even at the age of 35, it is clear that our time on the tractor swing at the original home in North Enid is what I keep coming back to. I must have spent years of my life on that swing with Boppo. Of course at a younger age and much smaller size, that swing, and the tree it was attached to, appeared to soar to the sky allowing a pretty intense ride, especially when Boppo would push. Virtually any time I wanted to swing, Boppo would take me out there without protests of being too tired, too busy or simply wanting to do something else. He would stand behind me and push as long as I wanted to be out there. I can remember the sights of the grain elelvator, the sounds from the farm next door and the feel of the wind as I swung back and forth reaching scary heights and speeds. I will never forget those times when we didn't say a word, I just sat there and Boppo did all of the work while I had all the fun. Deep down, he knows he was having fun too. What better way to spend an afternoon with, at the time, your only Grandson. That swing is now sitting under my bed waiting for me to find the right tree to hang it on and have it ready for my grandsons someday. I know Boppo has one waiting for me as well and I can't wait to run into his arms and say " Boppo, let's go swing."
Boppo - I love you and will see you again soon. Until then, feel free to provide a push while you're waiting for me.
